WHO WE ARE
THE LOVE OF WINE BROUGHT US HERE
Why should wine country have all the fun?
After years of exploring wine-country destinations, we dreamed of bringing that same magic to Houston—creating a space where wine lovers and food enthusiasts could gather and indulge in remarkable flavors. Nestled in the heart of the Heights, Mutiny in the Heights reflects the neighborhood’s vibrant spirit—blending boutique charm, culinary artistry, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.
Our globally inspired menu pairs Californian sensibilities with a Texas twist, crafted by Chef Eduardo Alcayaga using exceptional ingredients sourced from local purveyors. Every dish is thoughtfully designed, ensuring freshness, depth of flavor, and a seamless harmony with our curated wine selections.
At the heart of Mutiny in the Heights is our Tasting Room, where we offer immersive wine and food pairing experiences. With boutique wines from around the world—many unavailable in local retail outlets—our selections are curated with care and intention. Our relationships with artisan winemakers and farmers allow us to bring exclusive offerings to the table, introducing guests to rotating producers with compelling stories to share.
We are proud to be a part of the Heights community, a neighborhood where passion for craftsmanship, connection, and discovery thrives. Whether you’re a longtime Houstonian or exploring the Heights for the first time, we invite you to be part of our journey.
Join us for a Wine Dinner, Winemaker’s Series, Paella Sunday, or Tuesday Steak Flight Night, or let us host your next private event with unparalleled hospitality, exceptional wine, and inspired cuisine.
THE FOUNDERS
Emily Trout and Mark Ellenberger have spent decades enjoying wine and developing relationships in wine-country venues around the world.
"As the producers of Kagan Cellars' wines, we recognize the chasm that exists between wine producers and consumers. The resources that produce great wines are finite; as such, wine is not a commodity. Wine, at its worst is an expression, and at its best is a work of art. We founded Mutiny Wine Room to create connections between wine lovers and the hands, hearts, and minds of the artists that create great wine."
